Book Blurb

Making a Splash #2: Caitlin by. Jade Parker:
"What's your favorite song?"
I shrugged
"Come on. You've got to have a
favorite song."
"'Our Song' by Taylor Swift..."

I just found this incredibly funny, because I too am a Taylor Swift fan (before she blew up and became all Hollywood) and 'Our Song' is my favorite song by her and one of my top ten favorite songs of all time.

I just love it when you read a book and totally relate to it!

Jet Set

Lucy Peterson is an army brat on scholarship to the prestigious Van Pelt boarding school. The exclusive Diamonds are just brats, gifted with all the money in the world. Sophia is a popper in disguise, selling the secrets of Van Pelt’s most famous students. Oliver is a prince with a heart of gold. What happens when these worlds mix is a first-class tale full of betrayal, love, friendship, and plenty of humor.

Jet Set is a new twist to the classic high school drama. While the idea is great, the execution is anything but. Due to the shortness of the chapters, important events are given only one to two pages and then the book bounces on to another event. The novel’s interest level also rises and dips throughout the story, moving quickly from interesting, important events to minor problems that are used as fillers. This combined with the lack of detail given to important events causes the read to be extremely choppy. The relationship between Lucy and Antony was also a major downfall to the book. The relationship was thrown out of nowhere and then was cast off and picked up again throughout the story. While the relationship was important to the plot, this is another case of a great idea but poor execution. However what the books lacks in plot it makes up for with humor and an adorable ending.

This novel is the perfect choice for someone looking for a light, humorous read. Even with its choppy plot, I would read this book again simply because of its ending.

3.5 Stars!

Friday Five

Fantastic Fridays has officially been changed to the Friday Five!
  1. I FINALLY ordered Specialists #3: Winning Element! After months of wanting to read it, I can't wait to get my hands on it and find out what happens after the lasts book's cliff hanger ending.
  2. Last summer I read Jade Parker's awesome To Catch a Pirate. The book was so good I read it in 5 hours. Recently I found out that she had written a new series, Making a Splash, about three best friends and I've been interested to see how it compares. I haven't been able to find it in stores and then a few days ago I'm at borders and there it is! So I bought two of the three books, turns out that I bought 1 and 3 so now I had to order book 2, and I am excited to read them.
  3. I found a new series that looks really good. The first book is titled Mixed Bags. The series is about a girl who moves in with her 60s super model mom and helps her open an all girls boarding house. As the girls learn to live together, they become a tight knit family. All in all the books look really good, like a less action packed Gallagher Girls novel.
  4. I've spoken with the Press Tribune and Chick Lit Teens will be featured in the Tribune Saturday, July 5th! So look for it and tell your friends, the more the merrier!
  5. I'm in the middle of reading Jet Set, and while it isn't awful, it isn't all that great either. It's a little to light for me. I mean girly, high school, clique-ish books I usually don't mind. But I'm 90 pages in and I'm just going 'So what... She got a scholarship to a boarding school that is attended by the richest kids in the world... She's selling a picture of a charm bracelet owned by the mean girl.... She's playing tennis with a prince.' Oh well, it's keeping me occupied so I guess it can't be too awful. Look for the review, comming soon.
