Cover Judge (yes, I've officially changed the name) is a semi-weekly feature that highlights the gorgeous covers of the books on my wish list. With many of these books months away from release, the best way to pass the time is admire their very pretty covers. This week I have to lovely covers:

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Release: March 2010
Synopsis: When Sophie Mercer turned thirteen, she discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-Gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hecate Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward prodigium, a.k.a. witches, fae, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard. Three powerful enemies who look like supermodels; a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock; a creepy, tag-along ghost; and a new roommate, who happens to be the most-hated person and only vampire on campus. Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her friend Jenna is the number one suspect. Meanwhile, Sophie has a more personal shock to grapple with. Not only is her father the head of the prodigium council, he's the most powerful warlock in the world, and Sophie is his heir. As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all prodigium, especially her.
Cover: I'll start by saying that I'm a big fan of the juxtaposition this cover has going on. On top, it's frumpy, gray, and well...drab. But at the same time, the scene is also eerily spooky. The mist creeping out from the bare trees combined with the black cat really helps strengthen that. Below that, however, is a bright spot of color. I love the lower half of the cover. The colors practically jump of the screen, and I can only imagine what it'll look like when it's printed. The rich green on the sparkling blue is magnificent. Not to mention the girl's new, powerful stance. This cover is an all around win!

The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May & June by Robin Benway
Release: August 3, 2010
Synopsis: Three sisters, three extraordinary, life-changing powers!
I hugged my sisters and they fit against my sides like two jigsaw pieces that would never fit anywhere else. I couldn’t imagine ever letting them go again, like releasing them would be to surrender the best parts of myself.
Three sisters share a magical, unshakeable bond in this witty high-concept novel from the critically acclaimed author of Audrey, Wait! Around the time of their parents’ divorce, sisters April, May, and June recover special powers from childhood—powers that come in handy navigating the hell that is high school. Powers that help them cope with the hardest year of their lives. But could they have a greater purpose?
April, the oldest and a bit of a worrier, can see the future. Middle-child May can literally disappear. And baby June reads minds—everyone’s but her own. When April gets a vision of disaster, the girls come together to save the day and reconcile their strained family. They realize that no matter what happens, powers or no powers, they’ll always have each other.
Because there’s one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood.
Cover: Again, the colors on this cover do wonders. The posing of the three girls is already very interesting looking, but the way that they've varied the colors between them really makes it pop. Also, I like how the girls' eye color really stands out against the different shadings. Colors really can make or break a cover. And with this cover, I think they make it even more striking.
